PAGE TWO-A Broome Attends Annual Program Owen Broome, county office representative, was in attendance at an annual state convention for North Carolina Federal Crop In- France personnel at the Blockade Runner Hotel, Wrightsville Beach, last week. Among others attending the three - day meeting were State Director Julian Mann and Bud Forrest, assistant to the state di rector, from Raleigh, as well as Ross Dimock, di rector of sales division, Washington, D. C. Mann said the meeting was held “to train the personnel to give better service to present policy holders and to future pol icy holders.” Representa tives from 75 of the 100 Mrs. Belch, 71, Taken In Death Mrs. Victoria M. Belch, 71, of Hertford, died Mon day night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fran cis B. Briggs, Route 3, Edenton. Mrs. Belch was bom February 10, 1897, in Cho wan County, daughter of the late Jonathan and Mary Miller. She was the widow of William Belch. In addition to Mrs. Briggs, surviving are two other, daughters, Mrs. Al ma B. Lane of Elizabeth City, and Mrs. Cornelia B. Byrum of Chesapeake, Va.; three sons: Henry and James Belch, both of Long Island, N. Y., and Wil liam Belch of Newport News, Va.; 16 grandchild ren' and 12 great grand children. She was a member of Hertford Assembly of God Church, where funeral ser vices were held Wednes day at 2:30 P. M. with Rev. Alvin Price and Rev. Glenn Lawrence in charge. To bacco insureds received nearly one million dollars and one-fourth million was paid for cotton losses. These claims were paid principally due to the rec ord breaking heat and drought of last summer,” he stated. Federal crop insurance guarantees the investment on tobacco, cotton, pea nuts, soybeans, com, ap ples and peaches should any destructive force of nature bring production below cost. The protec tion is offered in a limit ed number of counties ex cept for tobacco and this insurance is available in most counties where to bacco is a main crop.
