My Experience Os ’6B By MARY LIZZIE LANE It was nearly a year ago I went to a missionary meeting through a blow; We came out, it was snowing so hard I couldn’t see the hood of our car. I remember going around the bend When the clock had just said ten; It was snowing hard right then I promised not to let this happen again. It was a week or ten days more I heard my neighbor call at the door; The meeting is tonight, you know. Are you already now to go? I thought a moment and then I said It’s stormy outside, it’s quite a dread; We took off without a fear, Thinking home was so near. We were there, it was warm And not thinking about going home; Everything went on so nice We weren’t thinking about the ice. We had the meeting that was right, It looked like we would spend the night; The steps were slick, so was the yard. We liked not to nave made it to the car. Then we had a mile to go Through the ice, cold and snow;. The wheels were frozen to the ground When we pulled off it made a sound. But when we had to turn the bend That’s when the trouble did begin; We first slid north and then slid south, We were in sight of my house. And then it stopped and wouldn’t go. Then we began to whisper low; The gas was almost gone, the lights dim, Faye said, “I don’t think we’ll make it in. We looked out and saw a light. We were cold and huddled up tight; Then she got a start and took me home. But what happened was never known. Faye helped me out and opened the door, Then said, “I want to see your feet safe on the floor”; Then I could hear slams all around Like something breaking to the ground. Then the pigs began to squeal. How the rooster he did crow; He was only trying to let me know All about the ice and snow. When I got up and looked around My pecan limbs were on the ground; There were lots of things broken down And no traffic to make a sound. Then the sun began to rise In the far away eastern skies; It was beautiful to look around As the ice glittered on the ground. Then I looked up into the face of my son, He said, “Mama, I was afraid you couldn’t get home, I told you it was stormy and sleeting outside. And you ought to stay home by the side of the fire.” €Fttik Tuhr N-0 - W SAVE $2.00 1 / PLAYTEX ffimh made with LYCRA* GIRDLE [ xw' | Firm’n Flatter" Girdle only $7.95, reg. $9.95. \ 'if I s With zipper only $12.95, reg. $14.95. \ fl / IS Panty only $8.95, reg. $10.95. This gives people who did not elect to be under Part B when they became 65 years old, an other chance to enroll for this most important pro tection. A person can apply for Part A, hospital insurance, any time within three months of age 65, but there are time limits when a person can apply for doctor bill insurance. Everyone has a seven month enrollment period beginning with the third month before age 65 and extending to three months after age 65. People who do not sign up for doctor bill insurance during the seven month period may enroll later during certain general enrollment periods which run from January through March of each year. , But they can’t keep postponing enrollment in definitely. They must en roll within three years of the time they first became eligible, that is, at age 65. Otherwise, they will never be able to enroll. That is why those who are age 65 and have not signed up for Medicare should do so without delay. Most im portant—for some people— those who became 65 be fore October 1, 1966, the time between now and March 31, 1969, is the last chance they have to en roll. Anyone who has any questions about Medicare should immediately contact their social security office at 401 South Dyer Street, Elizabeth City, N. C.
