Pilot Survey Slated In Area The Albemarle Choral Society has been chosen as the pilot group for a na tion-wide survey of organ ization and management plans, materials studied and performed, and bene f:i* Jerived by members of choral organizations oper ating under the auspices of college and university continuing education pro grams. The survey is be ing conducted by Prof. Paul A. Aliapoulios, mem ber of the East Carolina University music education faculty. The purpose of the sur vey is to further the founding of area and com munity groups who, like the Albemarle Society, con duct rehearsal meetings on a division basis and who, by combining division forces, can perform major items of choral literature. In order to make the pilot survey as complete as possible, former members as well as those presently enrolled are urged to at tend the next rehearsal meetings of the society’s divisions in Edenton and Elizabeth City. The pilot survey goes to press March 1 and will be used ns the model for ma terials which will be dis trib ut e d to continuing education administrators throughout the country. Library Club Spsors Book Fair The Chowan High School Library will sponsor a stu dent book fair March 3 to March 6. Students will be able to browse and pur chase books. The book fair will be open during the hours of 8:30 A. M. to 3:30 P. M. Books will be on display in the, library. The book fair committee invites all students, par ents and visitors to attend the fair. The main pur pose of the fair will be to help spur student interest in reading and building home libraries. The Library Club is sponsoring this event, with Wanda Ward serving as book fair chairman. The committee includes Reba Cowand, Dorothy White, Paul White, Larry Spivey and Jeanette White. The book fair display will include attractive new books from many publish ers in all popular price Girl Scout News By Nan Stutsman, Scribe In Girl Scouts February 11, the two Girl Scout troops, as well as the Brownies, met as one group. Murray Ashley, director of Civil Defense, came to talk to the group on safety and first aid. We talked about burns, cuts, snake bites, etc. After Mr. Ashley finish ed, the Girl Scouts pre sented Mrs. Taylor Brown, Mrs. Nathan Dail and Mrs. Larry Williams with some carnations and a Girl Scout pin to show our ap preciation for all that they have done for the Girl Scouts. Then the Girl Scouts went back upstairs and had a Valentine Day par ty mlth refreshments. Then we closed the meeting with a Girl Scout wish. ranges.
