PAGE SIX-B Beatty Heading Seals Campaign Jim Eeatty of Charlotte takes the reins as head of the annual Easter Seal ap peal in North Carolina for the second straight year as the drive gets underway March 1. Beatty, an internationally known track star and member of the N. C. Gen eral Assembly, was pre sented a national service award by the National ' Easter Seal Society for his volunteer services for the handicapped last year. He was one of 10 nationally known athletes cited for their help at the National Society’s annual convention in Boston in November. Beatty joins Carol Bur nett, 1969 National Easter Seal campaign chairman, and Scott Kendall, a Wadesboro boy chosen this year’s state Easter Seal Poster Child, in support of services to thousands of crippled children and adults throughout North Carolina and the country. This year's drive continues through Easter Sunday, April 6. The North Carolina chair man was the first man in Course Offered At St. Paul’s A study of liturgy with emphasis on theological meaning will be conducted each Tuesday in Lent be ginning February 25 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Adults are requested to bring sandwiches for lunch dtiring the one-hour peri ods and beverages will be served. The course to be led by Rev. George Holmes will be of interest to any churchmen. It will be dra matized and follow the development of the sacra ment from the time of Christ to modern times. Men and women of the parish are encouraged to take the five-week course and all adults are cordial ly invited to participate. Jay cues as one of America’s Ten Out standing Young Men of the Year. In accepting the chair manship of the 1969 Eas ter Seal appeal, Beatty will again be Working with Dr. Thomas B. Reid, Jr., of Jacksonville, president of the N. C. Easter Seal So ciety, and the thousands of volunteers in 50 local so cieties who will be help ing in the appeal.
