PAGE TWO -A VROAD STREET BULLETIN —by KATE Although the skies are cloudy And the cold air has its sting, The Robins and the Red Birds Are singing songs of Spring. Old Mother Nature understands The gloom that Winter brings, So she gives us yellow daffodils, Another sign of Spring. The gifts of hope and beauty Are among the many things That come from life eternal Which also brings the Spring. Please have patience with me concerning spring because it’s my favorite time of year and I can hardly wait for warm weather. You may be a little skeptical, but x if you just look for it, there are many signs of spring right now. The Tom Woods, whose attractive home bor ders on Pembroke Creek, have had recent visitors of the blue bird clan—one of the first harbingers of spring. Makes me feel like singing and I’m not even blessed with a sing ing voice. It was our privilege this past Friday afternoon of viewing the coming pic tu r e of “The Restless Ones,” featuring a special appearance of Billy Gra ham. This is a story of the problems of our young people and the misunder standing and carefree atti tude of many parents. It is a great picture and will be shown here March 13 through March 16. I wish that there would be some way that I could persuade all of you to attend this movie. Sometimes I think I’ll just get a soap box and stand on the corner. I get so riled up at so many is sues. When I think of so many young people who would like to go to college and who would appreciate the privilege, but lack the necessary funds and then 1 see all the horrible demon strations and rioting at va rious colleges by the so called intellectuals thats’ when I’d like to use my soap box. Not too long ago when a student didn't quite make the required . grades, it wasn’t too long before he had to leave col lege. Now it seems, for other reasons the student can and does rebel with viciousness. Looks like , someone is afraid. Most parents can’t say “No" and stick to it. College offi cials can’t or won’t say :“No” and even some of our •law enforcing bodies don’t .•seem to be' positive. Arp •• we losing our grip? ;i Golly, I’m glad I got :‘that off my mind might tjmake my blood pressure •rise. -* • If you’re trying to break jthat sweet eating habit, Most drugs, like bread, are at their best when fresh. Os the 2,000 some drugs a pharmacist stocks, many must be discarded unused, to assure fresh, potent drugs. This is our re sponsibility to you, our patrons. DIAL m.rU -> KDDOON, M. C. keep a supply of fresh fruit on hand, or try finishing a meal with a bite of cheese, dates, figs, prunes, etc. Or just simply get your mind on something equally excit ing as cake! And speaking of cake, here’s a recipe for Choco late Frosting, which is de licious— given to me by Mrs. Rosebud Ward: Laplander Chocolate Frosting Use a 2-quart heavy pan: 2 whole eggs or 4 egg yolks. 4Vi tablespoons cream or evaporated milk. 3 tablespoons butter. lVi cups sugar. 3 squares of bitter choco late (melted). Beat eggs until light, add other ingredients, then cook in sauce pan on high heat until mixture boils, stirring continuously. Re move from heat, then beat until cold and thick enough to spread. I am truly grateful for all recipes and if you’ll keep watching, you’ll find other recipes for many goodies. Cheese Susies 1 lb. sharp cheese, grat ed. Vi lb. butter. 4 cups plain flour. Dash of cayenne pepper. Cream butter and grated cheese. Mix in flour, salt and pepper. Roll thin and cut with cookie cutter. Place a date or a half pe can in center. Bake at 375 degree oven for 8 minutes. Helpful Hints If a child should swal low something he shouldn’t have and a doctor isn’t im mediately available, a par ent can start administering water and raw egg white, a glass of milk or broth. Get a glass stopper out of a perfume bottle by gently tapping it with an other piece of glass. After you clean your silver, rub it with a piece of cut lemon, then wash and dry it. It will become more brilliant and stay bright longer. No Ceiling Either “But don’t they have a J cover charge here?” in- 1 quired the timid chap. I “How could they?” gush ed the girl.
