WEST Frad Grain, Cotton and Wheat Sign-up In the feed grain, wheat and cotton sign-up through Friday, February 28, 204 farms had signed up in the feed grain program, 11 farms in the wheat pro gram and 252 farms had signed up in the cotton program. This is 30 per cent of the eligible feed grain farms,' 56 per cent of the eligible cotton farms and 22 per cent of the eligible wheat farms. C. 10.0 acres or less may sign up and receive the small farm payment, plant no cotton in 1969, leave no land idle for cotton, and the allotment is protected for future years. The small feed grain farm with base of 25.0 acres or less may divert all the base and receive diver sion payments, or he can divert any part of the base from 20 per cent up and receive price support on the acreage of corn planted. | The large feed grain farm with base of more than 25.0 acres may divert up to 50 per cent of the base and receive price support on the remaining 50 per cent if planted. There is no pay for the first 20 per cent diversion on large farms but there is payment on the acreage diverted between 20 per cent and 50 per cent. Acreage diverted under the feed grain and wheat programs must be of aver age productivity on the farm. The diverted acre age cannot be grazed be tween April 30, 1969, and October 1, 1969. Soybeans may not be used for cover crop on diverted acreage or planted in lieu of corn for price support payments. The signup period ends March 21, 1969. Agricultural Conservation Program Requerts are now being accepted for cost sharing on open ditch drainage, tile drainage, summer cov er crops, forestry practices and home gardens. Appli cants for home gardens, cost sharing must qualify as a low income producer. Reminders March 22: Final date to release 1969 cotton allot ments to the County ASC committee for reapportion ment. April 1: Final date to lease and transfer 1969 flue - cured tobacco and peanut allotments. April 5: Final date to apply for an increase in 1969 cotton allotments from released acreage. .
