T s -1C x MISS BEVERLY JANE WARD Beauty Queen Is Miss Ward Miss Beverly Jane Ward, 21 - year -old daughter of Mrs. Alethea Ward Wills of Suffolk and the late Ferma Ward, won the Miss Tidewater Beauty Salon Queen title February 22. Miss Ward, presented by Deen’s Beauty Academy of Portsmouth, competed against 14 contestants se lected by members of the Norfolk Hairdressers As sociation. The affair was held at Lake Wright Mo tel. As winner, Miss Ward will participate in tfw Oyster Bowl, visit Nor folk Municipal Hospital and Camp Civitan, and will compete in the state National Beauty Salon con test showing creative styl ing and costuming. Miss Ward, a secretary at V. H. Monette & Com pany in Smithfield, gradu ated from Chuckatuck High School and attended Smithdeal-Massey Business | School in Richmond for one year. Funds from National Beauty Salon Week go to Camp Civitan. Last year the week’s activities in the Tidewater area brought in $15,000. Airman Nixon Unit Winner WITH U. Twiddy, 114 Pembroke Circle, Edenton, is one of 14 pledges to the N. C. Wesleyan College Chapter of Alpha Delta Chi frater nity. The fraternity, which was organized and charter ed by the college in 1967, held its formal rush in January and will observe an eight-week pledge peri od. B. H. Wood of Edenton, N. C. alumnae at large. Hundley Joins Weyerhaeuser Keith R. Hundley, pres ently public relations of ficer for the N, C. State Highway Commission in Raleigh, has been named public relations manager for Weyerhaeuser’s North Carolina operations. Hundley, a graduate of Western Carolina Univer sity, who also studied at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, will assume his new posi tion on March 3i. The announcement of Hundley’s appointment was made by Area Manager Chapman Hutchinson, to whom he will report.
