All soybean growers, sup
ply dealers and others are

Swine And Egg Refer
enda: On March 26 two
referenda important to
swine producers and com
mercial egg producers; will
be held. Polling places
will be at the same places
and at the same time.
Swine producers will
vote on the continuation of
the assessment of five
cents per head on hogs
sold for slaughter. Com
mercial egg producers will
vote on the continuation of
the assessment of two cents
per case of market eggs
sold.
The money collected
from these programs will
■be sent to the N. C. Com
missioner of Agriculture
who will turn it over to
the N. C. Pork Producers
Association and the N. C.
Egg Marketing Association
respectively.
The two associations will

Scale Insect Control:
This is the time of the
year that scale insects be
gin to emerge and spread.
Last Saturday I found
some patches on peach
twigs.
These emerging scales
appear as light colored cot
tony or fuzzy masses on
the stems or twigs. At
this stage they may mi
grate to other parts of the
plants. At this stagel they
are relatively easy to kilL
Thorough spraying, to
wet the stems, with one
tablespoonful of either of
the following to one gallon
of water—Malathion 57 per
cent EC or Lindane 20 per
cent EC or Nicotine sul
fate 40 per cent EC or
Thiodan 25 per cent EC.
EC means an emulsified
liquid.
Repeat the application at
10 day intervals until the
problem is licked. It may
take two or three applica
tions. This control meas
ure is good on ornamen
tals, shrubs and trees.
