How can I NOT believe in God?
Awakening each morning I hear
The beautiful chorus of many birds
Bringing their songs of cheer.
How can I NOT believe in God?
When I open my eyes and see
The resurrection of Springtime
An Easter message for you and me.
Do you know of any
thing more perfect than a
beautiful, warm Spring
morning? No wonder the
little lambs and calves rol
lic in the fields or that
the birds sing and children
get exuberant—it’s a hap
py time!
It’s not only a happy
time, believe me, it’s a
busy time. We all have a
lot of painting and fixing
up to do, to keep Edenton
beautiful. But the worst
part of it is that when you
can’t do it yourself you
just can’t seem to find
help. Carpenters and paint
ers are busy and even
grass cutters are scarce. I
got disgusted and tried to
mow our grass and found
it is just too hard a task
for me. It is really exas
perating to be so excited
about Spring ond to want
to dig in the yard and
plant a garden, etc. —then
to be a weakling.
If you haven’t already
made your Easter eggs this
year, here is a rscipe for
them—and it’s pretty good:
2 boxes of confectioner’s
sugar.
1' 2 sticks butter.
*,4 box cornstarch,
tsp. salt.
1 egg.
2 pkgs. cocoanut.
1 tsp. vanilla.
H cup milk.
I box bittersweet choco
late.
Chopped nuts and fruit
' if preferred.
Mix butter, milk, egg,
vanilla, cornstarch and salt
in large bowl. Cream mix
ture*enhl' soft.- Add 1 boy,
suga'ty* centinue creaming,
then add other box of sug
ar, cocoanut, nuts and fruit.
Shape into eggs and let
dry for one hour on wax
paper. Melt chocolate with
2 squares of melted par
affin. Let dry.
Someone asked me last
week about cleaning mar

A Few Hints
A fast fire starter for
campers is an egg carton
filled with charcoal and
soaked with paraffin. One
match starts it blazing
well.
If strong glue is needed
and none is available, burn
some shellac in a dish to
get rid of alcohol. What’s
left will be one of the
most powerful adhesives
you can find.
To keep lettuce fresh and
crisp longer, wash the
head and wrap it in a wet
paper towel and then put
it in a plastic bag.
Use talcum powder on
soft cloth to clean a stain
less steel sink.
