:Veekend I knew all the
:joys of being a Mother
land a Grandmother, when
ijny two sons, my daughter
: Jr.-law and my two grand
children were here. I tried
•$o remember to cook all
|ihe foods I knew they
|tiked long ago and it was
rwonderful to see them eat.
The time was short and
seems almost like a dream,
but I’m so thankful to have
had them. The little ones
are still with me, enjoying
the freedom of the yard
and all outdoors, instead of
a 12th floor apartment in
the big city of New York.
Mr. B. and I continue to
fish most every evening in
spite of the wind starting
to blow, it seems, each
evening about 5 o’clock.
I’m not saying how many
fish we catch, but at least
it’s as many as we got at
Nags Head a week or so
ago. The pleasure of sit
ting quietly, watching the
cork, is worth a million.
We Methodists sure are
glad to have our preacher,

The story is told of the great conductor, Sir
Michael Costa. Once he was rehearsing a great I
orchestra of hundreds of musicians. The orches
tra was filling the auditorium with thunderous
music. The drums, the cyipbals, the cornets, the
siring instruments—all combining to make splen
did harmony.
“Stop!” he shouted. All fell silent to see what
Sir Michael wanted. “Where is the piccolo?”
he asked. In that immense and powerful orches
tra, one man had been silent.
Sir Michael had missed that tiny note and the
rehearsal was imperfect.
This incident has a great lesson for all of us.
In the mighty chorus of life we, too, are missed
if we become silent. Every man has a place—
has a part, whatever that part may be.

Hats off to all the gals

Vacation Bible Schools. It
takes a lot of time and
sacrifice, but it really is
worth it to the children
and the parents.
Some people believe it
to be a fallacy that Grief
can kill. However, I read
from a medical news ser
vice where it is proven
that within six months af
ter the burial of their
wives, five of each surviv
ing hundred husbands
dropped dead. This points
to evidence that emotional
strain places an unbearable
strain on some hearts.
I also read about a very
good idea for punishment
to fathers of illegitimate!
babies. One judge sen- J
tences each of them to nine
months in jail.
We really have been en
joying fresh spring leaf
lettuce. Our own crcp
was almost a complete fail
ure but a friend shared
her abundance with us and
with our homemade cooked
dressing —it sure was de
licious. Our most prolific
crop is zucchini and we
know nothing about it but
so help me I’ll fix it some
way.
