My Grandma taught me many things
A long, long time ago;
On rainy days she’d make doll clothes
And tell ghost stories full of woe.
She’d recite Little Orphan Annie,
And other poems as well,
Then we’d make popcorn and pully taffy,\
Tall stories she would tell.
As we sat in the summer kitchen
Time stopped so it would seem,
But most of all my Grandma
Taught us how to dream.
Grandmas are most important
To children everywhere
And for Grandma it’s a privilege
To have grandchildren in her care.
I suppose seme of you
wish I’d get off the Grand
ma bit Perhaps I’m just
too sentimental, but believe
me, this longing is hard to
shake.
I was wishing yesterday
afternoon that I could be
a shadow and watch all

Episcopal Church, a strong
chess team from Elizabeth
City defeated a team from
the Edenton Chess Club by
a score of nine to one.
Elizabeth City was cap
tained by Wayte Tnomas,
who started the Edenton
club. Rev. E. L. Earnhardt
captained the Edenton
team.
The following pairs play
ed two games each:
Earnhardt vs. Clarence
Sanders, lost two; Jimmy
Bond vs. Dicky Boada, won
one and lost one; Tommy
Shepard vs. Billy Albert,
lost two; Rev. F. B. Drane
vs. Carlyle Horner, lost
two; Tommy Jackson vs.
Halwood Houtz, lost two.
While Edenton lost, the

The Edenton club has not
been very active for the
past two months due to
high school activities.
