PAGE TWO-A 8 BROAD STREET BULLETIN KATE A friend to me is one who gives A smile and not a frown, A friend to laugh and cheer me When worries get me down. This sort of friend I’d like to be, This friend I’d like to make. Who takes me without question, A Friend for Friendship’s sake. One example of a friend is one who, when I ad mired some lovely flowers she had received from a friend, shared them with me. Then, again, there's a friend who will sit and lis ten and just let me talk my worries away. Oh, there's so many different kinds of friends and so very valuable —for friend ship’s sake. We fished all day July Fourth, just about 10 hours of it. Not many fish, how ever, but peace, content ment and plenty of sun. I’d like to collect all the worriers and make fisher men of them. What fun it would be to see them relax for a time. I saw some pictures of Lena and Claude Griffin’s grandbaby this past week and needless to say, she is a pretty baby, just like her mother. The Griffins at tended the christening of their granddaughter in Ra leigh recently, a happy oc casion for them. Another thing which made grand mother proud is the fact that the baby wore the same dress which she wore at her christening—several years ago. When it comes to “spoon feeding” a puppy, just to spoil him, it’s quite the limit. Just ask Buff about it! There’s another couple of proud parents and grand parents this week, I’ll tell you. Ernest and Toni Ke hayes’ son, Tom, and wife, Chris, way off in Minto, Alaska, are the happy par ents of another son, Carl Christian, bom Monday of this week. Tom, who by the way, is an Episcopal minister in Minto, called Western Gas Wants You To Meet WUIAM (Bi EA) lASSIIH Bill Ed has been with Western Gas for 15 years as a deliveryman and serviceman. His job is to see that you get accurate deliveries and courteous service. Bill Ed is well qualified to take care of your LP Gas needs. When you need experienced deliv ery and service, Call Western Gas Service 313 S. Broad St - Edenton, N. C. Phone 482-3122 his parents from Fairbanks, Alaska, to tell the good news and the telephone connection was so good that it seemed almost im possible that he could be so far away. My son, Martin Zimmer man, is vacationing with us this week and it is won derful to have him home for more than just two days at a time. I’m doing my best to fix all the food he likes and to fatten him up a bit. He also likes to fish, which makes for more congeniality. I’m real proud of him for he is a true Christian in every sense of the word and tries hard to live his Christianity. What a blessing it is to be proud of your children! Which reminds me of an other happy grandmother. This evening I had the oc casion to walk in the kit chen of our neighbor, Mrs. Ida Mae Roberson, when supper was in progress. To see the happy faces of Bill, Russell and Joe Garwood around the supper table with their grandmother just gave me a happy feel ing. CARO OF THANKS I would like to express my sincere appreciation for every act of kindness shown me while I was a patient in Chowan Hospi tal, and since my return heme. Your many prayers, beautiful flowers, cards, gifts and visits I accepted with humble gratitude. To the nursing staff and doc tors, your careful atten tions will always be re membered. Again I say thanks and may God bless each of you. CAREY EVANS. THE CHOWAN HERALD. EDENTON, NORTH CAROLINA, THURSDAY. JULY 10, 1900.
