Larry Dowd is a patient in Chowan Hospital. Mrs. R. N. Carroll’s mother is about the same. Congratulations to the newlyweds, Barrow and Ward. Dr. Janies H. Blackmore preached Sunday morning and evening services at Edenton Baptist Church. Dr. Blackmore is director of public relations at the Southeastern Seminary at Wake Forest. Revival services are in progress this week at the Rocky Hock Baptist Church. Revival services are be ing held this week at Hap py Home Church. An area Sunday School convention will be held in Edenton Baptist Church Monday, September 8. The emphasis will be “Year ol Transition— l 969-70.” begin, ning at 3 P M. The con vention will dismiss a 8:30 P. M. with an evening meal served at 5:30. Miss Faye Chappell be came the bride of Quinton Goodwin Sunday, August 10, at Center Hill Baptist Church. 'She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert L. Chappell of Tyner and he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Goodwin of Suf folk, Va. Rev. M. B. Motts offici ated and the bride was given in marriage by her brother-in-law, Roy Jones, of Greenville. Mrs. Shirley Jones, sis ter of the bride, was mat ron of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Kathryn Chap pell, Miss Judy Chappell, I Miss Debbie Hobbs, Miss Sandra Goodwin, sister of the bridegroom. The bridegroom’s father served as best man. Ushers were Donald Chappell, brother of the bride; Donald Goodwin, brother of the bridegroom; Ray Mitchell and Frankie Katkaveck. A reception was held in the Center Hill Community Center. Following a trip to Nags Head, the couple will make their home in Suffolk, Va. Twiddys Receive National Award Glowing predictions ot improved home sales in the months ahead were heard by Warren and George Twiddy at the 29th annual meeting of the Na tional Homes builder or ganization in Martinsville, Va. The predictions were made by James R. Price, board chairman and chief executive officer of Nation al Homes Corporation, lar gest home manufacturer in the United States. Price reported that the National Homes builder or ganization showed a 32.4 per cent gain in the first six months of 1969. as com pared with 1968. This com pares with only a six per cent increase in housing starts generally. The or ganization’s single family home sales were up 30.3 per cent, while the indus try was down 4.6 during the same period.
