Highway Maps Are Available I RALEIGH This week, during National Highway Week, the commission will have its popular four-color official highway map back in stock and free on re quest to those who request it. Since 962 the mapping done by the State Highway Commission has been bas ed on aerial photographs. Therefore, commission map. ping has been a more sci entific and accurate pro cess. Before that, all maps were drawn to scale by hand. In 1916 the State High way .Commission issued its first official state highway map. This was done to as sist the motoring public. Since then the demand for maps has grown along with the size of the motoring public. Nowadays the com mission distributes some 450,000 maps each year in answer to requests from the public. Another service to motor ists is a monthly bulletin on highway conditions. This lists all detours and all construction on state high ways and interstate high ways. Schedules for all ferries in service in the state are also available on request. The State Highway Com mission also has available detailed maps of each county. These maps show cities and towns, all pub lic roads by type from sec SERVICE you ban count on! • Company-trained appliance servicemen • We lend cylinders and tanks • Complete gas service for home, farm end industry • Quality-controlied for better performance end economy • Over 45 years of leadership ...
