I’ll remind you again, but I’ll tell you now that ■the Order of the Eastern Star will sponsor a fish fry October 18 for dinner and supper, out beside the Boy Scout hut on North Broad Street. Tickets can be obtained from all East ern Star members and the proceeds will go to the Masonic and Eastern Star Home at Greensboro. Most all of us have a sweet tooth, so support these Girl Scouts, will you? Isn’t this bright, blue October weather wonder ful? Just makes one glad to be alive. Here’s an interesting recipe, given to me by Rosebud Ward (Mrs. Zell). She says that she has had this recipe for years and her family has always en joyed it. Custard Cornbread 2 eggs. 1 tsp. soda. Vi cup sugar. 1 cup sour milk. 1 tbsp. melted butter. 1% cups corn meal. Vi tsp. salt. Vi cup flour. 1 cup sweet milk. Beat eggs, add sugar, sweet milk, then cornmeal and flour. Mix sour milk, soda and salt and add. Pour mixture into hot pan containing melted butter. Then pour an extra half cup sweet milk into mid dle of mixture. DO NOT STIR. Bake hour at 373 degrees. Holmes Scores With Equitable Frank M. Holmes, local representative of the Equit able Life Assurance So ciety, led the entire South ern Division of the com pany in production credits for -the month of Septem ber. This is a district honor and an outstanding achievement.
