A SPOOKY NIGHT By MARY LIZZIE LANE Halloween is here at last, Time for boys and girls to get their masks. There will be fun for all— The large as well as the small. It is a spooky time of the year And to your home you should stay near. Black cats and witches are all around: I really hope they can be found. Give them a broom stick if you can. So they can ride to another land. Their noses are long, their chins are sharp; They don’t come out before it’s dark. Their hair is long around their head. To look at them is quite a dread. And the ghosts so big and white Will also be on the street that night. You must have a jack-o-lantern Setting at your front door, When the goblins come to your home, You’ll pass goodies out to them once more. Around the corner now and then You see goblins holding hands; Some are low and others tall. They play pranks I’ve been told. If they happen to visit you Count them as they come two by two: It’s all spooky as you know. Children love Halloween though. They’ll have parties all around, Some in the country, some in town. All the goblins I wish them well. What they’ll do we cannot tell. As we all know, Halloween night Is just around the bend. And we are all living in hopes That it will have a pleasant end.
