Try a Herald Classified Ad WHAT I’VE BEEN TOLD By MARY LIZZIE LANE Right across the lane from the present site Was where Chappell’s Hill Church first dawned to light There in the comer of my father’s field Where a little log school house had stood for many yean. In this log building where the first message want out Many people were saved there’s no doubt. This report has been handed down to me For many generations you will plainly see. It was back there a hundred years ago, People have told me and I know it’s so. My great grandfather sat in the front row, He was one of the most dedicated members, you know. He offered them land to build a meeting place. He knew his Saviour he’d soon meet face to face. Years later they decided what they built was too small, A larger building was needed so it would seat them all. And the congregation grew to such an extent They had to build another building, that’s how it went. The first building didn’t accommodate them very long Because people came by great throngs. All the Christ-like people I understand Called a conference and went hand in hand. They decided to try to build again Since they had reared up families of young men. And as the years swiftly passed by They built the third building, I don’t know why. This building that is standing there today. That’s where my childhood was spent so lively and gay. I guess God intended for it to be, This beautiful building left for you and me. It has a wonderful location, I am very pleased. I hope the members don’t fail to bow on their knees. I want the next generation to understand How it all happened to fall in their hands. My Uncle Frankie and Amos. too. They were loyal to the church like me and you. Way back there in the days of old, Church members weren’t so indifferent and cold. They met together to worship the Lord. They felt His presence when they entered the door. They knew God was the head of the Church, And they didn’t have to say so much. They knelt down and talked to the Lord, They knew what to say when they stood on the floor. Now a hundred years have passed and gone And those dear old saints have gone home. How they are waiting patiently to see The day when they’ll meet with you and me. I grew up in the church and learned about the Lord, Now I am always standing right at the door. If a child is brought up in the way they should go, Their faith will get stronger as they grow. If we sit down and cross our hands. And say the Bible is something we don’t understand. We know it’s God’s Holy Word, so read it today And I know it will help you along life’s way. At The Singer Company today researchers are engaged in dra matic miniaturization, meaning, among other things, that the size of electronic business machines will get much, much smaller. Above is an enlarged view of a micro-circuit wafer, a complete though minute unit consisting of tiny electronic elements. It eventually will replace the total volume of computer circuitry in a Singer electronic calculator and could be comfortably packed in a volume no larger than a key on the keyboard. It typifies the advanced techniques under development for use in Singer’s varied products. gi >a^— FOR YOUR WINTER LAWNS USE RYE GRASS or FESCUE Call - Home Feed & Fertilizer Co. > Phone 482-2313 or 482-2308 W.
