PAGE TWO-A , BROAD STREET BULLETIN... By Kale Whatever life has to offer, What burdens you must bear, Keep hold of all your faith in God, You’ll find a solace there. If only each of us could believe and remember the goodness of God, our wor rying would be in vain and our hearts lighter. As I write this, the clouds are thick, it’s cold and dreary, but I know that by tomorrow the sun will shine again, my heart will be lighter and then courage will be renewed for another stormy day. For many of us who knew of the P & Q Super Market, it was a sad occasion this past week when he was taken suddenly ill and died in a few days. He was a silent man, serious about his work, but always ready to help and accommodate a customer. Many people will miss him and may God in His mercy and wis dom give comfort to his family. In this column last week I wrote an article about the accommodation of guides for tourists who come to our town on week ends and would like a guid ed tour on Mondays, which is the ‘‘off’ day for guided tours. As happens many times, many of us do not understand such things and make too many snap judg ments. As was explained to me this week, it takes trained personnel for these tours—someone who knows the complete history of the historic places and furnish ings. Most houses have priceless articles on dis play also, and the guides are responsible for them. Then, of course, as with each of us, we must have time off and Mondays seems to be the logical day. I believe, however, that some arrangements will be made in the future, per haps, to alleviate this occa sional problem. At the risk of fate or someone being jealous of us, I will brag a little, or maybe just thank God for our Hazel, who helps us here at home. The situa tion sometimes reminds me of television’s Hazel and Mr. “B,” for as with tele vision’s Hazel, our own person Hazel helps us through many situations, is kind and always faithful. She not only makes things 5420 @52 55 Quart^^pint JACOUIKS ®| APRICOT FLAVORED |ppj| BRANDY eNARLCS JACQUIN at CJ», Ine. Phil*. For many of you who do not know it, or maybe it’s me who’s ignorant I found out this week that if you have a letter to mail, which you think is a little overweight for a six-cent stamp—you cannot add any other denomination stamp except another six - cent one. I did add a couple more stamps and now it’s laying in another post of fice with a postage due tag on it I must out this short this week as I am about to take another “vacation” and have loads of things to do before entering Albemarle Hospital in Elizabeth City. However, I do want you to have this recipe for Prune Cake, given to me by Myrtle Cuthrell, who also brought me a good sized sample, and it is delicious.
