He will con tinue his work as a ma chinist in the Virginia Shipyard. Summerlin entered the school in July, 1965, after graduating from Chowan High School. Daring his apprentice ship, he was on the Stu dent Council in 1969. During its 47 years of operation, the Newport News Shipyard’s Appren tice School has graduated more than 3,400 skilled workmen in 25 crafts. Vo cational training and aca demic instruction equival ent to a junior college edu cation are provided during the four and five year courses offered by the school.
