Hie 38th annual meeting or
the stockholders of Peoples
Bank and Trust Company was
held February 11, at the home
office in Rocky Mount with
W. W. Shaw, chairman of the
board of directors, presiding.
Hie highlights of the ses
sion were the presentation of
the annual report of opera
tions by W. M. Stanley, presi
dent, and his message to the
stockholders. His report show
ed new highs in earnings, de
posits, resources and activity.
Four new directors were
elected to the board. They

Mrs. Leora Goodwin Lane,
Route 3, Edenton, died Feb
ruary 5 at her home follow
ing a recent illness. She
was 84.
A native of Chowan County,
she was born February 18,
1905, daughter of the late
Joseph and Ida Byrum Good
win. She was married to Lu
ther Lane, who survives.
Also surviving are four
sons: Thurman E. and Melvin
C. Lane, both of Edenton; Al
ton J. Lane of Virginia
Beach, Va.; and James F. Lane
of Winfajl; four daughters:
Mrs. Beulah Turner, Miss Bes
sie Lane and Mrs. Julia Ash
ley, all of Edenton; and Mrs.
Thelma French of Norfolk,
Va.; 23 grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Cen
ter Hill Baptist Church where
funeral services were held
February 7 with Rev. M. B.
Motts in charge. Burial was
in the family cemetery in
Tyner.
Williford Funeral Home was
in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services were held
February 5 for Mrs. Nealie
Terry Outlaw, 76, Route 2,
Tyner. Mrs. Outlaw died
February 3 in a Lumberton
hospital following an extend
ed illness.
A native of Chowan Coun
ty, she was born November
11, 1894, daughter of-the late
Benjamin and Irena A. Cope
land. She was the widow of
Talmadge Outlaw.
Surviving is a son, W. R.
Terry of Ahoskie; a daughter,
Mrs. Lucille Baum of Au
lander; a brother, Jesse Cope
land of Tyner and four grand
children.
She was a member of
Happy Home Pentecostal
Holiness Church, where fun
eral services were held with
Rev. Harold Leake and Mrs.
Eula Harrell officiating. Bur
ial was in the church ceme
tery.

Company during the year
1969 amounted to $734,035,378,
an increase of 13.1 per cent
over 1968, it was reported to
day by R. E. Saunders, Eden
ton superintendent. Os
these sales, $283,315,090 was
ordinary insurance; $425,736,-
164 group insurance, and
$24,984,124 weekly premium
insurance. The company’s ’
share of servicemen’s and
other federal employees
group insurance program is
not included in the above
sales.

General Statutes of North Ca
rolina, in which event he shall
also file a copy of such state
