Letters To The Editor I can restrain myself no longer regarding two mat ters the recklessness oi school bus drivers and the irresponsibility of the school patrols. Traffic is the third great est killer in our nation and our apathy toward control and solution is just as great. Can we do something in Edenton and Chowan County to improve the situation? Numerous attempts and re ports on my part have avail ed very little; in fact, I be lieve the situation is worse TTPelk Tyler Os Edenton BRING US YOUR FILM FOR PROMPT PROCESSING 'ANYONE a ► here )mm NAMED J\ ilk \ V AUGIE ?) Patrols (who should be re placed by adults anyway) are inattentive, playful, use poor judgment, often provide ad ditional hazards, report too laic for duty and leave too early, Bus drivers are 100 young in my opinion to maintain discipline aboard the bus (in deed at times participating), use poor judgment, drive too fast for conditions, tail-gate, do not obey basic traffic rules themselves, drive with lights blinking and signs ex tended, crowd, speed and are too often unpredictable for either comfort or safety. The present situation to me is intolerable and the respon sibility seems to be passed along. I request the superintend ent of schools, the school board, the Town Council, the Police Department, the school principals, the PTA and con cerned parents and citizens rectify these general condi tions immediately with strict training, rules and enforce ment.- Sincerely and emphatically presented to anyone who will listen, I am, Concerned, GEORGE 11.
