And lo i and behold Gertrude or Her- 1 man, fat and 50, catches a 1 big fish. Nothing to it. The truth is that in such cases , the angler has little to do ( with the fact that a fish has ( been caught. All hats must { be doffed to the know-how and forbearance of the crew. For trolling is a difficult, exacting and demanding sport. Without a computer one ; cannot say just how many combinations or variable fac tors there are in big-boat trolling. To come up with the correct answers you need to experiment from experi ence. This calls for a hard fishing, hard-thinking angler, one familiar with the grounds to be fished and the habits of the target fish either a Sewage Disposal System Is Must Public health laws of North Carolina require that any person owning or controlling any residence, place of busi ness or place of public as sembly shall provide a sani tary system of sewage dis posal, c onsisting of an ap proved privy, approved septic tank or a connection to a sewer system. Some persons are inclined to believe mobile homes are not included or can share toilet facilities with nearby homes or trailers. Each mobile home is considered a residence and such facility must be provid ed for each unit. In case of a septic tank system, a permit must be se cured from the local Health Department before work is started on such installation, j This permit is issued to the ! person or persons making the installation. i There are several owners of residences who appear to neglect warnings from the Health Department in provid ing such facilities. If this ; neglect continues, this will 1 give cause for the Health De partment to take legal action. The cooperation of persons concerned is asked in order ito avoid any unpleasant ac tion. VOTE FOR N. J. GEORGE County Commissioner First Township SATURDAY, MAY 2nd Your Support and Vote Will Be Appreciated! professional fishing captain or an avid amateur who prefers fishing to his job, wife and lawn. The professional troller has at least one big advantage over the amateur —he fishes every day. Most fish caught trolling are migratory species and it takes day-to-day ob servation and surveillance to be able to accurately predict their movements. If you can’t find the fish, all the professional technique in the world isn’t going to catch you one. Also, the charter skipper will know what the fish are feeding on and what baits they are hitting. And he will have had the time to experiment with boat speeds, and how far back to drop the baits. In short, he will know at the beginning of the fish ing day what it will take even the experienced ama teur precious time to find out. Os course, big boats are not the only boats used for troll ing. Many salt-water species such as bluefish, snook, tar pon, striped bass, mackerel and others are favorite fare of the small-boat troller. Here the job if somewhat simpler if only because it is scaled down. The fellow running the boat is usually within reach of a rod; artificial lures are more often used than baits, and less lines are prob ably being towed. All the species listed in the above paragraph can be caught casting as well as trolling. The disadvantage of trolling is that it generally calls for heavier tackle than casting. Light lines twist up when spoons and plugs dig in. A light-action spinning : rod is simply not designed to ■ be a trolling weapon. How i ever, trolling is often the ; best way to locate the fish. , Once they are found the : heavier trolling gear can be ■ set aside for the light spin ning, casting and fly tackle. Tom Paugh, Salt - Water Fishing Editor of Sports ‘ Afield Magazine, suggests that since productive trolling : is the result of successfully 1 combining a number of vari ■ able factors, keep records of • just what you were doing '< when the fish hit.
