Can’t See the Sea for the Forest?
Long before the Dare Coast became the
Vacationland of the World, it wasn’t possi
ble to stand on the shore and see miles of
the beautiful strand ...
That was because of the forests which
stood almost on the very edge of the ocean.
From time to time, storm tides uncover
evidence of these woodlands-on-the sea.
One area, in the Nags Head section, re
cently exposed hundreds of stumps right
to the water’s edge.

Premiere Os “For Pete’s Sake” Set
“For Pete’ Sake," from
World Wide Pictures, will
premiere at Taylor Theater
in Edenton on May 14-20.
Produced in -wide screen and
brilliant Eastman color, this
comedy - drama stars Robert
Sampson and Pippa Scott in
a mile-high Denver setting,
against the magnificent back
drop of the Rockies.
“For Pete’s, Sake” lives day
by day with a mcat-and-po
tatocs guv who hag dared to
take on big questions about
Christianity today, and comes
up with even bigger answers.
To Pete, God was . not dead.
Or was Hi ?
On a damp, gray, Sunday
afternoon, Pete Harper was
one of a large crowd at Den
ver's Bear Stadium listening
to a sermon during a Billy
Graham Crusade. Why was
he there? “It was free.” It
was free, but Pete, his wife
and their son all got mere
than they had bargained for.
Moved by the message, they
found themselves going for
ward. What (hen?
You will see as you live
with Pete and his family
during the months that follow
and watch them meet the
challenges of a Christian com
mitment. Faith becomes a
working commodity for Pete,
starting on the inside and
growing up and out. It
grows while he's pumping
gas on a busy Denver street
corner, while returning a
cake plate to a neighbor, and
while colliding with a gang
of teenage motorcyclists who
challenge him with the shat
tering honesty of today’s
youth; youth who force him
to match his faith against the
turbulent world of leather
and dare-devil races. Ride
with him as he grinds over
steep mountain trails to prove
that he’s not afraid to' try
their world.
Incidentally, the film docs
