First National Bank Notes Big Gains
JACKSONVILLE—Net oper
ating earnings for First Na
tional Bank of Eastern North
Carolina climbed 62 per cent
during the first quarter of
1970 over the same period of
1969, according to figures to
be included in a financial
statement scheduled for pub
lication late this week.
J. Hugh Rich, who became
president of the SIOO-*million
statewide banking system late
last year, revealed that net
operating earnings climbed
from $181,525 the first three
months of 1969 to $283,975
this year.
“On a per-share basis the
earnings climbed from 30
cents during the first quar
ter of 1069 to 46 cents for the
quarter just ended,” he noted.
The printed statement also
includes charts recently pre
