It was giv en in memory of Mrs. Inglis Fletcher and will be used in furnishing the library. A great deal of progress was made in the Girl Scout program sponsored by the club under the direction of Mrs. Taylor Brown. The dub gave three 9x12 foot tents to the Scouts for over night camping trips. RECREATION NEWS Registration for the sum mer baseball programs will be held on Monday, June 8 and Tuesday, June 9, from 10 to 12 and 1 to 3 at the Holmes High School Gym. ■The pregram is open to boys ages 8 to 14 years. This will be broken down into separate age groups depend ing upon the number of par ticipants. A baseball program is now being organized for boys 15 and 16 years old and these games will be played jat the Chowan High School ! field at night. i Practices and tryouts for i the 15 and 16 year olds will begin Monday night, June 8, at 7:15 at the Chowan field. We feel that we can offer a dine baseball program if we can get good participation, according to leaders. I We are now in the process ,of organizing the adult soft ball program. Funds Shared By Employees Miss Beulah Perry, manager of the local Rose’s store, an nounced that some 2,300 em ployees of Roses in seven southern states snared in .the company contribution to the Employees’ Profit Sharing Trust. The contribution, $1,810,000, was the largest of the 26 consecutive annual payments made by Rose’s since the Profit Sharing Plan was started in 1944. Miss Perry handed state ments of their personal ac counts to seven local partici pants, showing how each shared in the company’s 1969 profits and what each had accumulated. She pointed out that a typical participant in the plan (a saleslady in one cf the stores) who had shar ed in every one of the 26 company contributions now has a balance in her account equal to approximately three times her 1989 earnings.
