at his home June S following
an extended illness. lb.
Perry was retired from
Hughes - Parker Hardware
Company.
A native of Bertie County,
he was bom June 10, 1860, in
Bertie County, son of the late
William W. and Nettie Out
law Perry. He was married
to Mrs. Pencie C. Perry, who
[survives.
Also surviving are three
ZBMis: William W. Perry of
Greenville, and Murrill T. and
Lynn C. Perry, both of Eden
ton; one daughter, Mrs. Vir
ginia Pacini of Virginia
Beach, Va.; three step-sons:
Joe and Melvin Copeland,
both of Eden ton, and S/Sgt.
Bichard Copeland of Ft.
Bragg; one step-daughter,
Mrs. Faye Tarkington of Rop
er; two brothers, Macon and
Wesley Perry, both of Cole
rain; one sister, Mrs. Dora
Copeland of Colerain; 20
grandchildren and five great
grandchildren.
He was a member of lEden
ton Baptist Church.
Fimeral services were held
at WO P. M. Friday in Wil
liford Memorial Chapel with
Rev. Virgil Wilscn in charge.
Burial was in Beaver Hill
Cemetery.
•Williford Funeral Home was
in charge of arrangements.

163 Given Food Stamps
Chowan County residents
participating in the food
stamp program last month
received nearly $4 in bonus
stamps for each $1 paid, ac
cording to Robert Hendrix,
director of social services.
iHendrix, in his monthly re
port to county commissioners,
said 163 families were cer
tified for the program. He
said 160 families paid $4,480
and received stamps valued
at $15,652.
The director reported 509
cases where financial aid and/
or services came from the de
partment
In other areas he reported:
Aid to Aged: 95 cases, $4,961
grant, $5222 average.
Aid to Dependent Children:
78 cases, $6,818 grant, $21.44
average.
Aid to Disabled: 42 cases,
$2,399 grant, $57.11 average.
Aid to Blind: 13 cases, $686
grant, $52.76 average.
General Assistance:: two
cases, 78.60.
There were 26 cases hos
pitalized in the county at a
cost oT $7,187.78 with $450.36
