FIRST LADY Students Visit Yeopiro By Martha Jo HolUowelt On June 3 the sixth, sev enth and eighth grades of the Chowan Academy went on a field trip to see the Yeopim Township. First we went to Sycamore which is owned by Grayson (Harding. This house was built around 1650. It has low ceilings and entrances. Mr. Harding told us that every night he saw and talked to a ghost. Then we went to Green field, which is owned by George Wood. This house was built around 1750. ■While we were there Mrs. J. C. B. Ehringhaus talked to us about how it was when she lived in the Governor’s Mansion. At that time each Governor had to take his own furniture to the mansion. She Sawyer’s Poster Is Recognized Steve Sawyer, son cif Mr. and IMrs. Luther Sawyer, Westover Heights, Edenton, was given honorable mention in a national 4-H Poster Con test Congratulations to this fine 4-H Club member. Steve is an active 'member in 4-H. He is carrying pro jects in bicycle safety, crafts, ' entomology, forestry, garden, photography, wildlife and health. He was county winner last year in garden and health, projects. Then last, but not least, we went to Wood Hall, which is owned by Mr. and Mrs. T. B. iH. Wood. We had a picnic lunch there. We had a lot of fun. The sixth, seventh and eighth grades would like to thank their teachers for a wonderful year. Melvin Holley Earns Promotion HONOLULU Melvin R. Holley, son of Mrs. Cora L. Holley, Route 1, Edenton, N. C., has been promoted to staff sergeant in the U. S. Air Force. Sgt. Holley is an aircraft losdmaster at Hickam AFB, Hawaii. He is assigned to a unit of the Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Service which performs combat and mercy air rescue and evacuation. The sergeant is a 1966 grad uate of 0. F. Walker High School. ON DEAN’S LIST Miss Linda Goodwin, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Goodwin of Tyner, made the second semester dean’s list at the University of North Ca rolina at Chapel Hill. HOLDING TECH HONOR Robert M.
