tions Board, announced that
there was a drop of about 700

was the guiding light in or
ganizing the group.
County Home Demonstration
Clubs held a fruit and vege
table canning contest at the
Community House at Cross
Roads under the direction of
Miss Rebecca Colwell, home
agent.
Methodists from 14 coun
ties, representing the Eliza
beth City District, met at
Edenton Methodist Church.
Disturbed Methodists were
glad to learn that the pipe
organ got a thorough over
hauling, during which birds
which interferred with the
choir, were driven out.

decided to locate in Edenton
after being discharged from
the U. S. Navy.
At a convention of Delta
Kappa Gamma held at Pine
hurst, Miss Lena Jones, a
■member of the Edenton school
faculty, was elected state re
cording secretary of the so
ciety.
Philip McMullan, Jr., was
honored at Duke University
when he was elected vice
president of the junior class
of the engineering school.
Mayor Leroy Haskett ap
pointed a relief committee to
work in conjunction with the
Salvation Army in providing
relief to destitute families.
Those named on the commit
tee were W. P. Goodwin, Mrs.
Erie Haste and J. Edwin
Bufflap.
William H. Coffield Post
No. 9280, Veterans of Foreign
Wars, sponsored a baseball
game on Hicks Field with all
proceeds going to the Daisy
Alice Ward aid fund in an
effort to save the life of the
14-year-old girl who was ter
ribly burned several months
previously.
