And they were meant for everybody, Not just for me and you. And when Moses started down the mountain, He dropped the sheet of stone. And broke it all to pieces Right there on the ground. What made all this happen, We know Aaron had been told To make the Hebrew women bracelets and earrings Into an idol of solid gold. Moses was very disappointed when he saw the golden calf, He went up on the mountain again. When he came down the Ten Commandments he did bring. Moses knew worshiping this golden calf was an awiful sin. In this wilderness where the Hebrew children roamed, They would often lose their way. God staved by Moses constantly Telling him what to do and say. The Hebrew people were very thirsty, And no water they could find. Then they came to this great rock, They had murmured at Moses most, of the time. God gave Moses great power, And the water they could see. When Moses did smite the rock, •The water ecme gtt*hingout so-very free. I Mj> V» - —•.!*> *' They knew God had been sincere, They watered all the people that were near. And watered all the animals in their care, Even though they had stcod in fear. Now they had wandered for a season, And their food was getting low. They were getting tired and hungry, Again to Moses they must go. And when Moses they had found, Unto God he did pray. Soon all the Hebrew children Knew that food was on the way. Now when the heavens opened And food came showering down, The people were so thankful When they saw the food that fell on the ground. Bunch and his son, Wayne, had ob served an area in their field which was not draining as thoroughly as it had been since the tile system was in stalled in 1986. The area was too wet to farm this spring. After digging up the tile line in several places this was found where the line crossed under an old existing tap ditch. Normal brush and weedy vegetation was grow ing on the banks. The plant roots seeking moisture in and around the tile had neatly woven an im possible mat within the line. Bunch commented that the old ditch would soon be filled up and done away with and he plans to clean up around his outlet also. This should serve as a re minder to farmers who have tile lines emptying in wooded or ravine areas or even in outlet ditches that are not maintained properly. All brush, woody vegetation and trees should be cut back and killed that are within 50 feet of any line. A strand of copper wire can be placed in the line or copper treated tile can be installed in areas where de sirable trees are to be left standing. According to SCS engineering standards the copper wire or copper treat ed tile will keep roots from entering the lines and should be considered where lines outlet into wooded areas. ’ §1 r HARRELL EXAMINES ROOTS IN PIPE @£seflc Ty(er Os Edenton BRING US YOUR FILM FOR PROMPT PROCESSING For Quick Results Try a Herald Classified —A PAGE SEVEN
