Edwin Bufflap and Mr. Buff lap. Women Compete in Wool Contest The annual Make It Your self With Wool Competition, scheduled for October 24 at 9:30 A M. and Fashion Show, scheduled for 2 P. M., will be held in Garber Chapel, N. C. Wesleyan College, in Rocky Mount to select three junior and three senior district win ners who will compete in the state contest. The first place district winner in the sub deb division will also be se lected. Miss Susan Jordan and Miss Joan Jordan of the Ry land Senior 4-H Club will be' Chowan County entries in the Make It Yourself With Wool Contest Mrs. J. F. “Sam" Wilson, Jr., of Tarboro, District No. 3 di rector, states that the Make It Yourself With Wool com petition is an educational pro gram which helps girls from the ages of 10-21 to learn the art of tailoring fabrics. The girls are judged on their pat tern selection and how the pattern and fabric relates to the girls’ figures and the ac cessories they choose. Good construction techniques are also a requisite in the judg ing. The only rules for entering the contest are that you must I be within the age limit and that the fabric used must be 100 per cent wool loomed in America. Entry forms must be in by Friday, October 16, 1970. Mrs. Wilson also states that Mrs. Ted Bissette of Spring Hope, the lovely and talented former Miss Betty Lane Ev ans, the 1968 Miss North Ca rolina, will be narrator at the afternoon fashion show. Judge Horner was hearing a case regarding limited driv ing privileges. Gary Linwood Martin had been issued limit ed driving privileges on a second offense of driving un der the influence. The fir. t offense was 10 years prior to the second and Judge EMon Aydlett saw fit to issue lim ited driving privileges but under the law this could not be done so the order had to be revoked. George N. Bonner and James E. Brickhouse were charged with possession of non-tax paid liquor, posses sion for purpose of sale, manufacturing and possession of utensils for manufacturing whiskey. Bonner was sentenced to one year in Chowan County jail, suspended upon payment of S3OO fine and costs and not to violate any liquor laws for five year. Brickhouse was sentenced to 18 months in Chowan County jail, suspended upon payment of SSOO fine and costs and not to violate any liquor laws for five years. Other cases disposed of by the court included: Gumie Abner Cooke, Jr., drunk driving, $125 fine and costs. Willie George Bembry, drunk driving, 90 days sus pended upon payment of $125 fine and costs. Billie Davis, assault and battery, judgment suspended upon payment of costs. 'William Frederic Fanner, drunk driving, second of fense, six months, suspended upon payment of $250 fine and costs and surrender li cense for four years. 'William Calice Cooper, op erating a motor vehicle while license was suspended or re voked, six months, suspended upon payment of S2OO fine and costs and not to drive until April, 1971.
