four times the ball in the

that after playing the cut

you can’t hit the ball further
than you do. Your pro shop
carries -only pro line balls.
There is a reason for this.
Your pro can give you a bet

a pro sees his members play

wonder “why don’t they want
to support their pro? Don’t
they like me? Don't they

Per my inventory for Hie
month Os October I sold only
28 titleist balls, 29 maxifli balls
and a 'tow low end balls.
These are the best sellers in

cars I pay my bills on this

six golf gloves the whole

Vibrations Sew
Without Needles
Even the most modest
young lady will be able to
appear in public without a
stitch on!
Sewing without needle
or thread, the Ultrasonic
Sewing Machine can be
used to hem, tack base,
pleat, seam, slit and but
tonhole.
Developed by Branson
Sonic Power Company, of
Danbury, Connecticut, this
high-technology product
limits its present applica
tion to industrial markets.
The new technique sews by
welding together synthetic
materials with ultrasonic
(high frequency) vibra
tions. The vibrations gen
erate localized heat by
causing one piece of ma
terial to vibrate against
the other, creating a mo
lecular change which joins
—or “sews” —the pieces
together.

DRESSED FOR OCCASlON —Costumed for Halloween were the Robert Ray

unusual sight on Halloween, though some thought rain would keep the “trick or

Association -for t Retarded
Children is interested in ac
quiring some of it This is
the reason for a survey of
latent community resources
now underway in North Caro
lina.
The association, aided by a
grant of $25,000 from the
N. C. Department of Mental
Health, has set out to catalog
professional persona who are
presently inactive. They want
to know if these people are
interested in working with
retarder children.
Miss Barbara Well, a spe
cial education teacher from
Florida, is conducting the
study. She points out that
association is not just seek
ing teachers, nurses, etc., but
most any type professional
person can be helpful.

signed to find area people to
aid in a program to get aome
of the retarded children out
of institutions and back into
the community environment
"This can only be done by
professional persons willing
to provide services in the
community,” she' states.
Community programs are
needed badly, she points out
The big problem area is lack
of professional guidance.
North Carolina has four in
stitutions with a total of
5,000 beds. It is estimated
that there are more than
150,000 retarded children in
this state—some 300 of them
probably in Chowan County.
Many of those in institutions
could return home if services
were available, thereby mak
ing space available for those
now in the community who
should be in an institution

but cannot because of lack of
space.
New programs to be con
sidered are work activity
centers, adult activity centers
and day care centers tor all
ages. “These programs must
be established in order for
our communities to provide
positive alternatives to resi
dential care,” she states.
Actual survey work began
in Northeastern North Caro
lina Monday and Miss Wells
hopes to wind up the bulk of
her work within two weeks
so she can move to another
area.
