State University Alumni Loy alty Fund campaign in Cho wan County in support of educational missions at NCSU. James C. Brooks of Ra leigh, state campaign chair man, announced the appoint ment. Brooks noted that the campaign helps finance the outstanding alumni teaching professorships, library assistance and other projects of the NCSU Alumni Association. The NCSU Alumni Associa tion represents some 60,000 alumni living in every county of North Carolina, in 49 other states and in dozens of for eign lands. Cald well pointed out that private support of the land-grant in stitution “provides the mar gin cf excellence and makes the difference between a good university and an outstanding university.” Martin L. Privott P»ms Promotion Specialist Fourth Class. Martin Lynn Privott, now' serving jp Vjq|n«m, was pree mpted to his present rank on November 30. He is the son of (Mr. and Mrs Robert C. Privott, Route I, Edenton. Sp 4 Privott is serving as company clerk in Company D. 58th Infantry, 184th Ord. Ban., in Qui Nhon, Phu Tai, Vietnam. He entered the Army December 4, 1969, and completed his basic training at Ft. Bragg. He was at Ft. Benning, Ga., and arrived overseas on September 7. He is a 1968 graduate of Chowan High School and was employed at the United Piece Dye Works prior to entering the service. About his tour, the soldier writes: “After arriving in RVN, I was first with the 4th Infan try Division at An Khe in the Central Highlands. After my unit was deactivated for part of President Nixon’s rede ployment plan, I came to Co. D, 58th Infantry. Aifter one month here I became com pany clerk.
