Committee Elections
All known eligible voters in
Chowan County have re
ceived notice of the commit
tee elections to be held De
cember 1, 1971. Nomination
will be by petition and the
back of the letter received
can be used for nominating
by petition. Petitions must be
returned to the ASCS office
not later than October 27,
1971.
Ballots will be mailed to all
eligible voters on November
19 and must be returned to
the county office by Decem
ber l, 1971.
New committeemen and al
ternates will take office on
January 1, 1972.
More details may be ob
tained at the ASCS office.

Seniors last Tuesday had an
opportunity to take the
Armed Forces Test to iden
tify their aptitudes for fu
ture planning. Students did
not have to plan to go into
the service to take the test,
but if they should, they will
not have to repeat the test.
New Club
A new student organiza
tion, the Library Club, was
formed last Wednesday at
Holmes and officers were
elected. The purpose of the
Club is to stimulate interest
in the school library. Deloris
Stone, Holmes librarian, is
directing 'the new group.
ON NEW ENGLAND TOUR
Misses 'Lena Jones, Ruby
Felts, Emma B. Warren of
Snow Hill and Lucile Myrick
of Boykins. Va., will join a
group of 24 sightseers at the
Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, New
York City, this (Thursday)
morning for a seven day spe
cial autumn New England
.foliage tour with the Tauck
Tour Company of New York.
The tour will travel through
the Adircndacks, the Green
White Mountains and the
Berkshires, stopping at hotels
and in cities of interest.

Test Time Again
Junior and seniors who de
sire to go to college signed
up to take the college ent
rance exams. The seniors
filled out forms to enable
them to take the Scholastic
Aptitude Test or SAT. The
juniors signed up to take the
Preliminary SAT and Na
tional Merit Scholarship
Qualifying Test combined. For
all these students we wish
the be9t of luck.
Annual Sales
Annual sales were con
ducted Tuesday at Holmes.
Much was done beforehand to
promote the 6ale, including
an annual raffle and the
decoration of much of the
school with bulletins and
posters. The annual this
year will hav* a 19 page ad
dition which will enable it to
cover spring sports, the
Junior-Senior and will be
mailed to buyers next sum
mer.

continental kill of elk. The
“big six” in order of highest
annuaf kill averaged over the
past few seasons: Idaho, Mon
tana, Colorado, Wyoming,
