GOODWIN Agricultural Extension Agent Check for Chowan County cotton fields Monday reveal ed boll weevil inefstation and some red spider. Lindsay Ray Bunch, Rock> Hock, had a field with 28 pci cent of the young squares punctured. Willie Joyner, Rykind, hud 9 per cent boll weevil punc tured; Cap Ward, Sign Pine. 3 per cent boll weevil dam age; Charlie Small, Fahyc and Carroll Byrum and Dor us Copeland fields were too young for a boll weevil evalu ation; Frank White had 0 per cent bolls punctured; Elton Boswell has a heavy infesta- 1 lion of red spider in the field beside his house along the road. We recommend for boll weevil control that farmers use a mixture of Toxuphcnc and DDT. Methyl Parathion should be left out of jthe in secticide since it delays ma turity. For red spiders the con trol is Azodine. AJI cotton farmers should check their fields for boll weevil damage and red spider infestations.
