Thursday, September 7,1072. Immanuel Baptist School Day Care Center Opens Immanuel Christian School and Immanuel Baptist Day Care Center are now open at Imntanuel Baptist Church. Mrs. . Linda Hawkins, super visor-teacher, reported that tuitipil is low with the pur poseibeing to provide quality education and Christian guid wck: Fatalities are now available tor: pre-schoolers through the first jrade. Currently, there ere 70 children enrolled in the school. Mrs. Hawkins stated that pre-schoolers are given a hot lunch each day as well as a nap. She emphasized that the day care center is designed to give working mothers a wholesome place ta leave their child during the day. The day care center is open from 6:45 A. M to 6:45 P. M. Mrs. Hawknis said that reading is an important part of their educational program. A library is now being out fitted and the children visit the public library each week. In addition the Bible is taught, but these studies do not include any church doc trine. Bible stories and truths are taught in a drama tic manner with the children taking part and acting out va rious stories, it was stated. She said extensive planning was involved in initiating the school and research was done in selecting materials and texts. The Immanuel Christian School is approved by the N. C. Department of Public Instruction. Financing was accomplished completely with local money, without federal of state assistance.
