The young men were, from left to right, Bruce Morgan, David McCall and Win Dale. Troop 164 recently attended the fall camporee at Camp Perry, and the troop won a blue ribbon for outstanding camp activities. Those attending the event were Maurice Bunch, Gris Bond, Dale, Carl Gard, Jimmy Barger, McCall, Morgan, Mark Rose, Ken Kinion and Freddie Oldham with Scout leaders Wayne Ashley and Errol Flynn. The Bandon Notebook By Mrs. Eleanor F. Jackson Last Sunday Rev. Bennie Crawford came to Bandon Chapel to install three new deacons and to ad minister the Lord’s Supper. His instructions, as to the caliber of man the office de manded and the duties requir ed of him were based upov the apostle Paul’s epistle to Timothy. So thoroughly and seriously were these men charged that the whole church felt the power of Mr. Crawford's word. Here are a few facts which were given from the pulpit by Deacon Watson V. Mr. Crawford retired one year ago for his health. He married Ruby Simpson Butler 17 years ago and re sides at 112 Blount Street, Edenton. Next Sunday Just a reminder that Dr. William J. B. Livingston of Yorktown, Va., will pay a re turn visit to Bandon Chapel Sunday at 11 A. M., and that William F. Smith of Ports mouth and Arrowhead Beach will teach the adult Sunday School at 9:45. Also, Kent Rowley, Portsmouth and Ar rowhead will be on hand leading the singing. The Promised Travelog Headed for Light Foot, Va., 19 passengers in two cars and two station wagons were at the starting point in Arrow head Beach at 7:30 on Wed nesday morning. Two and a half hours and 105 miles later they arrived. That name, Light Foot has a message, for that’s what one needs—two of them! Despite the endless, overcrowded buildings and rough walk roads, the lure of expected bargains brought cars front half the states and even a busload from Ontario. The “light-footed” ran the gamut in purchasing, while few heavier feet sought re spite on a tree-shaded bench, meanwhile. By noon a pleasant little drive to the information cen ter in Williamsburg brought everyone to a delicious meal at a huge cafeteria. The long, hungry lines never stopped during that hour and appar ently kept forming all day. About Williamsburg! That’s another story! It’s orderly', beautiful, historical and would require a week to do it jus tice. The free bus rides, every few minutes, however, furnish a quick-sec of 15 ma jor spots where passengers may get on, off or return. Folders, loaded with maps, pictures and historical data are plentiful. “The Story of a Patriot” is a colorful and wide-screened movie that is shown in a lush theater, free, and depicts yesteryear characters in a true to life drama, with all their splendor and vociferous ness. “Tired but happy” was the opinion all 19 had on then return home at 6:30. Visit To Area Set By Candidate State Rep. John Ingram. Democratic nominee for In surance Commissioner of North Carolina, is making a swing down East to partici pate in the 10-county Albe marle Association firemen's parade in Columbia on Satur day. Rep. Ingram, the only Democrat elected to the Gen eral Assembly from (he pro-, dominately Republican 27th House District, was the author of House Bill 736 ratifying the 26th amendment giving 13 year olds the right to vote. Under Ingram's bill. North Carolina became one of the 37 states necessary for adop tion of the constitutional amendment. Ingram won his House seat on “issue politics.” He prom ised to work for auto insur ance reform and specifically to end discrimination against the youthful sale driver and his parents, who is charged more than a drunk driver over 25. This issue also won him the 'Democratic nomina tion for Insurance Commis sioner. Rep. Ingram, who is committed to abolish the as signed risk and work in the legislature for a responsible No-Fault, has appealed to the “pocketbook” of voters in all political parties.
