Aces Surprise Strong Gates County Team With 27-8 Win Friday By FLYNN SIRRATT The Gates County Red Batons, defending AA Con ference champions, were dealt a stunning blow as the Eden ton Aces rolled to a rousing 27-8 victory Friday night at Hicks Field. Although the Red Barons received the opening kick off, they suffered a serious loss when Simon Copeland of the Aces piltkcd up a fumble on their 40 yard line, setting up the forthcoming drive for the first Edenton score. Full back Ray Bateman made the first carry of the series to set up the touchdown followed by Richard Moiling, who wound up on the one yard line.
