BPW Foundation Awards Grants Career Advancement Scholarships —for mature, working women who desire _ further education or training ’ were awarded to 71 women in 23 . states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico in March by the Business and Professional j Women’s Foundation. This unique scholarship j program is designed for women who must have additional training to obtain a promotion, change career fields, or re enter the job market. The latest awards bring the total number of scholarships in the past three years to 467 in 49 states, with a value of $114,806. Scholarships are funded by BPW contributions and grants from PPG Industries Foundation, IBM, the Lilly] Endowment, the Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundations, the Esso Educational Foundation, Avon Products Foundations, and the Mobil Foundation. The scholarship fund was established by BPW in 1970 because of great difficulty ex perienced by working women in finding educational assistance. The awards may be used for training in any career field for which the applicant is qualified, academic or vocational. Study f may be full-time or part-time. Courses of study now include medicine, law, special education, scientific research, business administration and secretarial science, medical records administration, life insurance and real estate sales, dental hygiene, public administration, and many other fields.
