Keeter of Raleigh spent several days visiting Mrs. George P. Byrum in West Palm Beach, Fla. recently. Mrs. W. J. P. Earnhardt, Jr., Mrs. Leon Leary and Mrs. James Kinion attended the First Congressional District workshop in Washington for the democratic women. Mr. and Mrs. Clement Lucas, were recent guest of Mr. and Mrs. Hoke Roberson. Mr. and Mrs. Knox Britt recently visited with their daughter Mrs. Allen Hornthall and family. Miss Marion Hassell and Miss Betty B. Dixon left Sunday for Nags Head where they have taken positions for the summer at the Croaton. Mr. Gigi Leary, student of Elon college, Elon, is home visiting with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Trot Leary. Mrs. Ross Inglis, Mrs. James Darnell and Mrs. W. J. P. Sanford of Windsor announce the engagement of their daughter, Alice Faye, to Donald Carroll Bunch of Roanoke Rapids, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Jennings Bunch of Tyner. Miss Sanford is a graduate of Bertie High School and Emmanuel College and is employed as, a reading tutor in the Bertie County School System. Mr. Bunch is a graduate of Chowan High School and N. C. Shepard, Jr., of Albuquerque, N. Mex., and John Benjamin Driver, 111, son of Lt. Col and Mrs. Driver of Thousand Oaks, Calif., were married May 4 at the St. Mark’s on the Mesa Episcopal Church. Rev. Charles E. Fish officiated at the double ring ceremony. The vows were exchanged before an alter decked with flowers. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a dress of dotted Swiss fashioned with a three tier skirt. She wore flowers in her hair and carried a bouquet of gardenias and white roses. Mrs. William Ellington was matron of honor. William B. Shepard, 111, brother of the bride, served as best man. After a reception at Kirtland East Officers Club, the couple left for a wedding trip to Lake Cachuna, Calif. They will reside in Albuquerque. Niles, 11, of Lincoln Centre, Mass., served as his brother’s best man, and ushers were Mr. Richard Fawcett and Mr. Rob Lipscomb of Chapel Hill; Mr. Jay Freeman of Durham; Mr. Jonathan Niles, brother of the groom, and from Lincoln Centre, Mass.; Mr. Philip Honeycutt of Fuquay-Varina; and Mr. George B. Holmes, Jr., brother of the bride. Acolytes included John Holmes, brother of the bride, and Scott Spence, cousin of the groom, of Baltimore, Md. The bride, a recent graduate of the School of Nursing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Frederick Holmes of Norfolk, Va., and Mrs. Kone Brugh, of Roanoke, Va., and the late Mr. Brugh. The bride held the Elizabeth Blanchard scholarship while .attending the university. The bridegroom was graduated from St. Paul’s School, Concord, N. H., and ifrom the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1972, where he majored in chemistry and psychology. He is the grandson of Mrs. Arch Byrd Moore, of Memphis, Tennessee, and the late Mr. Moore, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel William Niles, of Boston, Mass. The couple will live in Durham after a wedding trip to the Bahamas. The bride will practice psychiatric nursing at Duke University Hospital, and the groom will continue as a research technician with the University of North Carolina’s Psychology Department.
