Page 2-A N.C. Agricultural Statistics Shown RALEIGH - State Agriculture Commissioner Jim Graham has announced the release of the 1972-73 edition of N. C. Agricultural Statistics. The 80 page, magazine size publication lists data covering all state grown crops. Information is broken down by, district and county. Data is compared to previous years by acres harvested, yield per acre, production and total dollar value. Also included is the weather crop summary, individual and total value of the eleven principal crops plus other statistics pertinent to North Carolina agriculture. Graham praised R. P. Handy and his staff of the State- Federal Crop Reporting Service for compiling and publishing the manual. “This is one of the most necessary services provided agriculture in North Carolina. It is an invaluable tool for anyone engaged in any aspect of the industry.” Those wishing copies of N. C. Agricultural Statistics for 1972- 73 should write: The Crop Reporting Service, N. C. LEO JENKINS Dr. Jaokfas Heads Be—trolk Week Eveat RALEIGH Dr. Leo Jenkins, president of East Carolina University, has been designated to head the observance of Democratic Appreciation Week in North Carolina during the week of September 15-21, State -Democratic Chairman James R. Sugg announced Monday. Preliminary plans already in progress call for activities throughout much of the state at the grass-roots level. “It’s going to be an old fashioned political revival.” said Dr. Jenkins. “We hope to have numerous observances at the grass-roots level, our purpose being to see that people are continually aware of what the party has meant to this state and nation, and what it can mean in the future.” Both Chairman Sugg and Dr. Jenkiris emphasized that factionalism in party politics is being submerged and Democrats are campaigning in unity for their party. "The great contributions of the party from Jefferson’s day on down will be noted in the public observances,” said Dr. Jenkins. And he added: "We plan to involve large numbers of Democrats from the precincts up to our four living former Democratic governors, in telling the party's story.” The opening day of Appreciation Week will occur on the date of the national Democratic Party telethon.
