DeWitt said “Should enable many taxpayers to complete their returns with less difficulty and in less time than last year." So that taxpayers can file early and receive refunds in less time than those filing closer to the Aprils due date, DeWitt urged employers to distribute W-2 withholding forms as soon as possible. W-2 s for 1973, ! must be distributed jjbfl January 31. 1974. „ Most taxpayers who file in receive their refunds in four to five weeks, .while later filers may have to wait as long as eight Weeks, because of the greater volume of returns received. DeWitt said. The major improvements irt the 1973 tax forms are: —elimination, of Schedule B lor reporting details of dividends and interest: —elimination of the requirement to list contributions for which the taxpayer has cancelled checks or receipts; of thb requiroihient to list names and Armejo Corrugated Stool ißipo For Irrigation'/ Drai nago i Jr ITSI EASY TO IN nj'SI'AEL. Taxpayers will also find two lines on their returns relating to the 1976 Presidential Election Campaign Fund checkoff: one line permitting them to check off for 1973, the other providing a second opportunity for those who failed to check off on their 1972 returns and now wish to do so. In discussing the instructions for 1973-returns. DeWitt said the IRS -has not only shortened the instructions but has rewritten much of th4 material, in easier to-understahd language. This should enable more taxpayers thari before to prepare their own returns. DeWitt also said most taxpayers will receive their 1974 tax packages in the amil by the early part of January, 1974. Taxpayers can Obtain additional forms and instructions throughout the filing period at most banks, postal service stations and IRS offices in North Carolina. / Because of you... today a man is on a dusty road leading south from Rawalpindi... ;c,i la.ng, analyzing, prob ing to send you an eye-witness story. The ways it saves are many, as the following aids show. • Cover the legs of turkey, or any fowl, by fringing pieces of foil to wrap around the drumsticks. It keeps the meat moist, and makes carv ing and serving easier. Covers can be used also on a shank of ham, chop bones or a crown roast. • If you find a garlic press hard to clean, try putting the garlic buds between two lay ers of foil; then bash it with a hammer. The pressed garlic and juice is then easy to use and you can throw the foil away. • If you have leftover hard sauce from that plum pud ding or whipped cream from the pumpkin pie, drop it in portion-sized mounds on foil, wrap carefully and freeze. What could be handier for the next time around, and it takes only minutes to thaw. • To save energy around and in the stove try lining drip pans under surface burners with foil. It will keep them clean, and help burners to op erate at maximum efficiency. Also line the drip tray under the surface as well as broiler pans. If foil is cut to fit ex actly, -it can-be wiped off eas ily and used for some time before discarding. • Want to boil a cracked egg ? Wrap it in foil. • If you have homemade goodies to give as gifts, don’t forget to tie them up in foil for safety’s sake as well as prettiness. • Little dabs of leftovers can be stored or frozen easily in airtight foil packets. They can then be heated right in the foil and no messy cleanup. THE CHOWAN HERALD Donald A. Gaudion Named NAM Chairman for 1974 Donald A.
