Miss Tomlinson and Dr. Betty Bowman are co presidents of the N. C.| Association for supervision and curriculum Development. They along with 9fr others from North Carolina are attending the national ASCD Conference in California and will leave from' Raleigh-Durham Airport Friday and ,pian to return Thursday, March 14. Miss Tomlinson is in charge of the flight. W. P. Jones,. William B. Gardner, Dr. and Mrs. Richard Hardin left Wednesday to attend the Federal Aviation Agency meeting in Atlanta, Ga. Students home from East Carolina University last weekend were v Linda Harrell and Reggie Griffin. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Proctor and Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Stallings have returned from Florida where they visited Mrs. Stallings brother J.'V. White, at Clearwater. Hoggard Miss Burris, Mr. Smith Exchange Vows Miss Gay Elaine Burris and Jeffrey Lynn Smith of Edenton spoike their vows Saturday in Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Ledford officiating in the afternoon ceremony. Given in marriage by her father, the bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Burris. Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Smith. The bride was attired in a gown fashioned with a Juliet bodice of Chantilly lace and a skirt of organza which formed a chapel train attached to the empire waist. The neck, Juliet sleevies, skirt and train were edged with fluted lace. The bride’s chapel length train veil of illusion was attached to a tiara of imported Chantilly lace embroidered with iridescent sequins and seed pearls. She carried a bridal bouquet of carnations and white sweetheart roses framed with baby’s breath and greenery. Mrs. Ben Chewning of Wadesboro, cousin of the bride, was matron of honor and Miss Cheri Jordan, also of Wadesboro, was maid of honor. The bridesmaids were the Misses Tammy Burris and Jan Burris, sisters of the bride, and *Miss Donna Harrell, cousin of the groom. Youngest sister of the bride, Miss Lisa Burris, was the flower girl. Mr. Carroll Smith served as best man for his son. Ushers were Glenn Smith, brother of the groom; David Jethro of Edenton; Elmer Overton, Jr., cousin of the groom; John Thompson, uncle of the bride, and Mike Connor, cousin of the bride, both of Wadesboro. For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Burris wore a floor length kelly green polyester crepe dress fashioned with an A-line skirt extending from the empire waist. The mandarin neckline, sleeves and front panels were of. Venice lace. She wore a matching petal headpiece and other accessories. Mother of the groom, Mrs. Smith, wore a floor length dress with a turquoise textured polyester bodice with a high neck and bands with a softly gathered skirt of contrasting polyester crepe. She wore a flowered headpiece and matching accessories. The groom’s grandmother wore a THE CHOWAN HERALD Mr. Charles Barnett Burch, Jr., of Athens, Ga. Miss Jones is also the daughter of Mr. Bruce dressmaker wit. of pink and gray paisley double knit with matching accessories. For a wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, S. p. the bride chose a heather blue knit suit with a sweater vesket top and an A line skirt. Her corsage was of sweetheart roses entwined with pale blue ribbons. After their wedding trip the bride and groom will return to Edenton where they will make their home. Cake Cutting The wedding rehearsal on Friday night preceded a cake cutting at the fellowship hall at Macedonia Baptist Church given in honor of the wedding couple by the groom’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Smith. For the cake cutting the bride-to-be wore a coral dress with an empire waistline and a matching textured Isenhour jacket. Her corsage of white carnations was framed by coral net and ribbon.
