v# THE CHOWAN HERALD M SadiorfC Bandon Notebook Bv Maeeie B. No lights! No heat! Confusion! That was the scene Sunday morning early at Bandon - all power went off at 8 A.M. It was wanner outdoors than in the Chapel! About 10 minutes before time for Sunday School, the power came back on! Heat was quickly turned up - coffee pot plugged in - and shortly thereafter, it was cozy as could be. Asst. Supt. Mrs. Louise Waters warmly welcomed everyone, especially Butch Smith’s daughter, Judy, her husband, Bill and children, including a brand new baby boy! Mrs. Waters offered a Jbeautiful morning prayer of thanksgiving. Edenton, North Carolina, Thursday, December 4,1975 to report that Jessie Baines, Sr., is able to be up and about now. All others on the list are still in need of prayer, including our dear friend, Eleanor F. Jackson. Just doesn’t seem right to look out into the congregation and not see her, with that beautiful white hair shining, sitting in her usual seat. Hurry back, Friend Eleanor, we all miss you. Bible Study will be Wednesday night at 7:30 P.M. ip Fellowship Hall. The BCWG meets Thursday from 11 A.M. to 3 P.M. Everyone is invited. Bring a sandwich and join us in Fellowship Hall for “Ladies’ Day Out”. You’ll enjoy it. Our Jtnior’s subject was “Giving Allegiance to God”, based on I Kings 11-12. (Story of God’s anger with Solomon for building heathem idols and the split in his kingdom because of these pagan gods.) —G— The Adult’s lesson taught by Mrs. H. T. Bunting, was entitled “Becoming Reconciled”, scripture from Genesis 45 and 50. God desires that His servants experience reconciliation with Him and with each other through confession and forgiveness. As Christians we must become reconciling agents between men and God, and between men and men, following Christ’s example. “Why Die As You Are?”, was the question asked by our guest minister, Rev. M. E.. (Chuck) Call, of the Christian Life Center in Tabb, Va. Holding up the Bible, Rev. Call emphasized that this Holy Word of God was THE TRUTH, transcending any doctrine made by man. For many years, he has taken the healing ministry of God’s Truth to dope addicts, homosexuals, people in prisons and hospitals and has experienced the joy of seeing boys and girls, men and women reclaimed for Christ through the Holy Spirit. In delivering this eye opening message, Rev. Call cited many scripture passages throughout the Bible. Today the Devil is* roaring like a lion-take a look at the situation: moral decline, government breakdown, lack of trust, crime wave, homosexuals in grade school and dope down to the sth grade! But, the spirit of God will raise up a Standard against the devil - use the Church to , do something about this mess. The Holy Ghost will defeat the devil. There’s more to being a Christian than just being born again - God’s spirit must live in your heart. Jesus sets you free from doctrine, bondage of any kind and the ways of men. The Holy Spirit is a convicting agent and the truths of the Word are spiritually discerned. In Psalms we find that “even in their old age, shall they bring forth fruit”. There is no such thing as going back - you have today - and the rest of your life to receive ALL God has to give. By faith, there is untapped power in the Word of God available to you and I and to the Church. Make a decision now as to what you are going to do for Jesus - actively use the talents God has provided. Get busy and work for His Glory. We were honored to have Rev. Call’s wife, Betty, lend her talent to our service. Providence Baptist Church Notes Church School at Providence begins at 9:30 A.M. Secfion C After the offering was collected, Betty sang “Fairest Lord Jesus” and prior to the Invitation hymn, she sang “If That Isn’t Love”. Her beautiful voice filled the sanctuary and brought tears of joy to many. In spite of sore fingers and an injured ankle, Butch Smith was at the paino for both Sunday School and Church. Margaret Bunting played the organ and Kent Rowley led the singing for both services. It was delightful to hear the organ and piano in harmony again.
