Baptist Sermon
Topic Revealed
At the 11 o’clock worship
service on Sunday morning,
Dr. Robert E. Gray, pastor,
of Edenton Baptist Church,
will use as his sermon topic
“The Lord’s Controversy.”
Scripture will be taken from
Hosea 4:1-3; 12:7-9.
Special music at the
morning service will include
a solo entitled “His Love
Won My Heart” by C. W.
Overman, and two songs by
the Celestial Choir (4 & 5
year olds). The anthem, “O
Thou, In Whose Presence
My Soul Takes Delight”,
will be rendered by that
Sanctuary Choir.
Dr. Gray will speak on “A
Paralyzed Pulpit
Propagates A Paralyzed
Pew” at the 7:30 evening
service with his text being
Hosea 4:4-10. The Sanctuary
Choir will sing “Pass Me
Not, O Gentle Saviour” as
the anthem.

Treasure Trails in the
U.S.A. published by the
National Extension
Homemakers Council is a
fantastic new book in the
Shepard-Pruden Library.
The idea for this book was
developed by Epsy Johnson
in 1972 while she was
serving as National Cultural
Arts chairman. The book
contains records of all the
historical interest areas in
each state that are least
known about compiled by
600,000 homemakers from
over the United States.
Truly one book written with
pride in America’s heritage.

Earnhardt for his sermon
topic Sunday morning at
Edenton United Methodist
Church. At the 7:30 P.M.
service his topic will be
“Paul’s Madness” from
Acts 26:26.
VIEW EXHIBIT —Proud parents view the “Superinten
dent’s Choice" art exhibit at the School Administrative
Office in the Chowan County Office Building. The dis
play, which changes monthly, provides students in each
school an opportunity to present various art forms which
they have been taught during the year. Viewing the

DISTRICT WINNER —Samuel Bobbit Dixon, student at Chowan Academy, and
son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dixon, has recently been named first place winner
in District 8 for an essay written and submitted to a contest sponsored by Eden
ton Tea Party Chapter, DAR. Presenting the award is Mts. .Marguerite Burch, Am
erican History Month chairman.

winner in District 8 for his
essay on Joseph Hewes. The
essay contest was sponsored
by the Edenton Tea Party
Chapter of the Daughters of
the American Revolution.
Mrs. Marguerite Burch,
History Month chairman,
presented him with a bronze
medal for excellence in
history.

Letter To The Editor
Several weeks ago the
Young Married Class of the
Edenton Methodist Church
made an appeal to our
townspeople for donations
for a garage sale The
response was
overwhelming.
Not only was this sale a
great success, where we
made over $l,lOO, but we
also have enough left over
for another sale.
Our many thanks go to
each of you that took a part
in making our sale such a
wonderful success. We want
