THE CHOWAN HERALD Students Enjoy Day Os Music In The Schools March 4 was a day which every student will remember as one of their fun days at school. It was on this day that John A. Holmes High School students experienced “Music in Our Schools Day”. The day began with an assembly. During this assembly the band and concert choir performed. With the selection “Pick Up The Pieces”, played by the band, and the selections from “Godspell”, which were sung by the concert choir, the student body was in a dancing, singing and happy mood. After the assembly, everyone went to their regular classes. In each class, records were played; radios were played, and in some classes everyone just sang. During the fourth period, the highlight of the day began. There was a jam session everyone attended during their lunch period. The Girls’ Chorus and members of the student body performed at the jam session. Members of the student body organized a band and played songs that were enjoyed by the students. Solos were also sung by members of the group. After the jam session, students returned to their regular classes. This did not discourage the students, because each class was filled with music. This was the second annual “Music in Our Schools Day”. The purpose of this day is share with the school and community some of the acitivities taking place in the music department. The assembly and jam session were sponsored by the Modern Music Master’s Honor Society. Edenton, North Carolina, Thursday, March 18, 1976 • y* •"' *-f'!
