A. Phillips, Chairman; David T. Bateman, N. J. George, Alton G. Elmore, J. D. Peele. The invocation was given by Commissioner Peele. The meeting was called to order by Chairman C. A. Phillips. Tax Free Industrial Revenue Bonds. Upon motion of Com missioner Elmore, seconded by Commissioner George and unanimously carried, that the Board endorse and urge the passage of Capital Improvement Bond Issue for State Institutions of higher education. At the February meeting an electric bill for $4,394.30 was presented by the Town of Edenton for improper billing. The Finance Committee was authorized to study the bill and bring to the Board a recommendation. The Committee recommended that the bill be paid. Upon motion of Commissioner George, seconded by Commissioner Bateman and unanimously carried, authorizing the Finance Director to pay the electric bill in the amount of $4,394.30. Upon motion of Com missioner Bateman, seconded by Commissioner Peele and unanimously carried, that the low bid on County property be accepted and awarded to Farm Bureau Insurance Services. A letter is lequested from the Company guaranteeing the figure of $4,476.00. Upon motion of Com - missioner Peele, seconded by Commissioner Elmore and unanimsouly carried, that the high bid of $1250.00 for 1973 Ford belonging to the Sheriff’s Dept, be accepted; the high bidder was H. B. Babb. The money is to be assigned to the Sheriff’s Dept. Budget. Mr. John Taylor appeared before the Board in behalf of the Library Board, expressing appreciation for allowing the building of a staircase. The Board of Commissioners will meet as a Tax Board of Equalization and Review Monday, April sth, 1976, at 2 o’clock P.M. in the Tax Supervisor’s Office. The Commissioners unanimously opposed the proposed increase percentage of benefit formula of local employment retirement system. The Register of Deeds announced to the Board her Wayne West Methodists Plan Special Program At Edenton United Methodist Church on Sunday evening at 7:30 o’clock Wayne and Ruth West will lead us in a service of song and testimony. All our friends and neighbors are invited to attend. The Wests are proprietors of the Manna Book Store in Williamston. A former pastor and school teacher, he is now engaged in a ministry of Bible teaching and music. He attended Mt. Olive College, Wake Forest University and the University of N. C. Mrs. West is also a former school teacher and she has a degree in music. In the back of their book store, the Wests operate a coffee house called the “Bread Box” where they teach and counsel young people. With their musical talents, they have ministered at many Full Gospel meetings and at churches of all denominations. They have recently opened a center for needy boys called the Manna House. Always fly your kite far from trees and electric power lines. 2. Always avoid busy streets and highways while flying your kite. 3. Always use wood and paper in you kite-never wire or metal. 4. Always keep away from fallen wires. 5. Always fly you kite on days when there is no rain. 6. Always use dry string not wire or string with metallic fibers. 7. Always fly your kite away from TV and radio atennas. 8. Always call Vepco if your kite gets snagged in a power line. Do not pull the string or climb the poles. Vepco encourages kiters of all ages to follow these basic safety tips.
