Bloodmobile paid a regular visit to Edenton Baptist Church. In the picture at right, prospective donors are registered by
volunteers. The next picture shows donors being interviewed by nurses to determine if they qualify to give blood. Gary

Twenty-eight new donors
were among 133 people who
went out to give blood when
the American Red Cross
Bloodmobile was at Edenton
Baptist Church on March 8.

“I would like to gratefully
acknowledge the following
people who donated their
time and effort to make the
last bloodmobile visit a
success. Without the
dedication from the people
of Edenton and Chowan
County we could not have a
successful blood program. 1
would like to thank all the
volunteers who helped in the
preparation and the follow
up of our last visit.”

Forehand, 56, Route 3,
Edenton, died Saturday at
her home following an
extended illness.
Mrs. Forehand was
empldyed at Seabrook
Blanching Corp.
A native of Bertie County
she was the daughter of the
late Cornelius T. and Pattie
Perry Hughes. She was the
wife of William T.
Forehand.
In addition to her
husband, surviving are
three sons: Billy G.
Forehand of Newport News,
Va.; and Carroll J. and
Tommy W. Forehand of
Edenton; two brothers:
Leslie Hughes of Windsor
and J. E. Hughes of Merry
Hill; two sisters: Mrs.
Margaret Allen of Windsor
and Mrs. Marie Bass of
Edenton; and five
grandchildren.
She was a member of
Macedonia Baptist Church
where funeral services were

Mr. Parker, 63
Charles Luther Parker,
Route 2, Edenton, died
March 11 in Chowan
Hospital following an
extended illness. He was 63.
Mr. Parker was retired as
supervisor of Chowan
County ABC Store.
A native of Perquimans
County he was the son of the
late Charlie Wilmer and
Mary lordan Parker.
Surviving is a brother, Ed
Parker of Edenton; and four
sisters: Mrs. G. L. Gilchrist
of Washington; Mrs.
Charles Williford and Mrs.
Thurman Harrell, both of
Hertford; and Mrs. Vance
Overton of Greenville.
He whs a member of
Yeopim Baptist Church.
Graveside services were
held Friday in Beaver Hill
Cemetery with Rev. Dick
Brewer officiating.

Mrs. Nancy Towe was
recently given a surprise
party by the Fourth Grade
at Chowan Academy. She
had substituted a few days
for Mrs. Carolyn Ward who
has since returned.
The students were very
happy to see their regular
teacher, Mrs. Ward, but
wanted to show Mrs. Towe
how much they appreciated
what she had done for them.

All-Star Team played the
Williamston All-Stars at the
National Guard Armory on
Tuesday, March 9. The
Edenton All-Stars, coached
by Donnell Valentine,
defeated the Williamston
All-Stars by a score of 39-37.
Down by 6 points at the half,
the Edenton team refused to
give up. In the second half,
strong defensive play,,
sparked by Ed Small and
Tom White brought the
team back in the game. With

’76”, to their parents last Tuesday night at Shepard-Pruden Memorial Library. The exhibit
included paintings in various media, built around the Bicentennial theme as part of the Girl
Scout Week observance.
