Evans Selected For Inclusion In Fraternity Twenty-four engineering seniors at N.C. State University have been elected to the Order of SL Patrick, national engineering leadership fraternity. The outstanding engineering students have been honored for their exceptional scholastic and leadership records during their four years at NCSU. The order of St. Patrick was named for the legendary saint who in chasing the snakes from Ireland “invented the first worm drive” and thus through his shrewd inventiveness became the patron saint of engineers all over the world. Dean of Engineering Ralph E. Fadum will present each of the outstanding students certificates and honorary pins. Among those elected was Robert 0. Evans of Edenton, an agricultural engineering major. The world’s heaviest “coin” is the Fe or stone discs from the Yap Islands in the Pacific, which can be as large as 12 feet in diameter—and a medium-sized one used to be worth one wife or an 18-foot canoe.
