Mike Brown State Wrestling Champ
By Jerry LaVoie
The Aces were well
represented last weekend at
the State Wrestling Tour
nament in Winston-Salem.
John A. Holmes High School
definitely was one of the
small schools in the field of
over 100 schools. Yet the
Aces placed a three way tie
for 10th place in the state.
However, that was not the
biggest story. Mike Brown,
senior at Holmes High,
placed first in the state in
the 188-pound class. Brown
ended his last season for the
Aces with a 20-0 record. He
was 4-0 at the state tour
nament, with a pin in the
first round (1:07, second),
and three decision wins, (11-
3), (7-2), and the 7-5
championship win Saturday
night.
In addition to Brown the
Aces had two other
wrestlers at the tour
nament. Kenneth Bond was
defeated twice in the 148
