Letter To The
Herald Editor
Its time to get out your
“sifting pen" again, as
Madeline Murray O’Hare is
i at ft again!
f This time, she is on the
move to censure the
religions message being
carried mi radio and TV.
Her efforts to erode the faith
of Jew, Christian, Moslem
or Hindu stems from her
lack df faith in any God; It
has been said, and indeed,
she has acknowledged that
she is out to wipe out all that
pertains to God!
Don’t take this lightly.
You remember, Madeline
Murray O’Hare succeeeded
in making it very difficult to
read the Bible or pray in
public schools, and she
protested the decision of the
astronauts to read the Bible
broadcast from their space
craft.
Now, the Federal Com
munications Commission
has stated that they must
'receive no less than a
million letters to keep
* religious programs on the
air!
Wake up, religious
friends!
May we remind you that
governments are lost
because good people do
nothing.freedoms are lost
because good people do
nothing. It is not enough to
“do nothing’’. If we are to
stay free, the good people
must act positively.

The following suggestions
are tentative and in
complete as must be any list
of precautions dealing with
such a complex and un
settled crime as kidnaping.
However, their observance
may do much to reduce the
chance of kidnaping.
1. Whenever possible
before releasing a child to
anyone except his parents
during the regular school
day, a teacher or ad
ministrative
telephone onq»of the .child's,
parents or guardians for
approval.
2. When a parent
telephones a request that a
child be released early from
school, the identity of the
caller should be confirmed
before the child is permitted
to leave. If the parent is
calling from his home, the
school should check the
request by a return
telephone call, during which
the child should identify the
patent's voice. In the event
the telephone call is not
being made from the child’s
residence, the caller should
be asked intimate questions
about the child. These
questions might include the
child’s date of birth, the
courses he is studying,
names of his teachers and
classmates, and similar
facts which should be known
to his parents. If there is any
doubt, do not release the
child.
3. Faculties of schools
should be alert to observe
suspicious persons who
loiter in school buildings and
on the surrounding grounds.
If such persons cannot
readily provide a logical
explanation for their
presence, the police should
» be notified immediately.
The identity and description
of all such suspicious per
sons should be obtained.
4. Schools, as well as
parents and youth agencies,
should take steps to make
sure that adult supervision
is provided in school and
recreational areas.

employees hired by the
Veterans Administration
last year constituted 17.5 per
